BLOG Entry - 2018 April

April was fun month with an Eagles gig and a Rock The Dock gig. We introduced some new songs:

Brown Eyed Girl

China Grove

Basket Case

Shooting Star

Smoking in the Boys Room

While the Eagles gig was fairly quiet (it as a cold wet night !) it was still fun to play and also great to play in a bigger room where we could have a much better stage sound. We followed this up with a Rock The Dock gig which was pretty busy (as usual) but also pretty loud :-p (something for us to work on)

On a personal front I have been going to my step-sons school performances and been blown away by some of the student bass players and this has prompted me to learn a few new tunes like Chameleon (Herbie Hancock) and Ramble On (Led Zep). I’ve also been plugging away at the double thumb technique and seem to be making a bit more progress. Every time I pick up the bass now I am practicing this technique to get it natural…still a long way to go but finally I can see some light at the end of the tunnel - lets hope its not a train coming the other way!!!

Thats about it for now - Im attaching my transcription of Chameleon to the side of this Blog - I kind of made up the run that goes with the brass section at about the 2:53 minute mark…Enjoy

Peace Jon
